FAQs

Are the Cutting Boards food safe?

Yes, Maggie uses “ArtResin” and once ArtResin is cured, it can be safely used with food.

Did you know that “ArtResin has been vigorously tested by a third party for leaching and migration across worldwide standards and passed every test: when used as directed, cured ArtResin will not leach any substances into food that comes into contact with it.” For more information go to: https://www.artresin.com/pages/faq

What other materials are in the Resin Pours?

Maggie’s products are made with food-grade Resin, beautiful acrylic iridescent pigments, fine glitters all sourced from around the USA, tiny starfishes, shells, and sand she has found while walking on the beaches of Florida. Maggie does not purchase shells, she only uses what she has found because she does not want to contribute to the over-shelling of our coasts.

How do I take care of my wood boards?

  1. Wash with warm soapy water – Do not put in dishwasher- do not soak in water
  2. Dry after washing or stand the board upright to dry
  3. In order to preserve the resin on your board, it is best to cut foods on the back of the board and serve on the front
  4. If your board looks dry or look dull after many times of washing- treat it with food-grade mineral oil, or any other food-grade oil to keep it looking beautiful

How do I clean and take care of my resin art?

If the piece gets dirty, wash with warm soapy water – do not put it in the dishwasher, then dry with a soft cloth. Do not use any sharp items on the resin, because they could scratch it.

Is Resin waterproof?

Yes, epoxy resin is a permanent application that seals in whatever it is poured over the top and protects the work underneath. It is like plastic.

Can my Resin paintings be hung outside?

The resin contains advanced UV and Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers to protect it from degradation (i.e. yellowing) caused by UV light, however exposing it deliberately to UV light is still not recommended to be safe. Plus, these paintings are on wood, and exposure to moisture can damage them.

Do you do commissions?

Yes, I do! For commission information please Contact Me!

Why do I have to wait so long to receive my custom commission orders?

Maggie takes pride in making your custom piece to your specification and that takes time. Then, the resined artwork has to fully cure for a minimum of 72 hours before packing or transporting. Although it may seem cured after 24 hours, it has not had a chance to cure all the way through and could be prone to denting. It needs to be fully cured before packaging to ensure that the piece of art will arrive beautifully.

How does my Resin Art piece get packaged?

Your Resin piece of art will be carefully wrapped with tissue or freezer paper to protect the resined surface without scratching or sticking. Once your piece is protected, Maggie pads it with packing materials to provide cushioning. An instruction card will be included and maybe a few fun things as well.

How are shipping costs determined?

Shipping costs are determined based on the price, dimensions, and weight of the artwork(s) purchased, as well as the shipping destination. Shipping costs include packaging and handling. Please note that artwork may be subject to duties, taxes, and/or fees according to your country’s regulations if they are shipped outside the USA. Please consult your local customs office for more details about duties and taxes.

What type of prints do you offer?

I offer archival paper prints and giclée prints on canvas. The canvas material is a beautiful upgrade on a typical paper print. It has a textural quality that mirrors the exact canvas I paint on.

How do I care for my print?

Prints arrive in a protective plastic sleeve and should be framed as soon as possible to avoid damage. For stretched canvas prints, keep them away from water and direct sunlight.
